How To Stop Living Life On Autopilot (And Why It Matters)

Do you ever:

Find yourself going through the motions, doing the same routine day after day rarely remembering anything truly noteworthy from the day before?

Do you sometimes feel like you have very little to look forward to or that you're not truly enjoying your life?

If any of this feels familiar to you, you are probably living your life on autopilot.

In the hustle and bustle of our busy world, this is not unusual.

While many people live out their entire lives on autopilot (which is truly sad), this is no way to lead a rewarding and successful life.

Thankfully, you can stop living life on autopilot with three simple solutions. 

Solution #1: Stop and smell the roses (both figuratively and literally!)

Take time to notice all the little things around you. 

Think back to being a child or observe a child in your life and spend even a few short minutes each day viewing the world around you with that sense of wonder and excitement.  

Connect with your inner child.

Solution #2: Focus on your short and long-term goals.

Do you still have those?


And if so - have you forgotten them?

Re-write that list and start working on accomplishing your next short-term goal.

Solution #3: Rekindle your relationship... with YOURSELF. 

When was the last time you did something special for yourself
? 

​Set aside a little time to do something different or try something new. 

And, remember: self-care is not selfish. It's absolutely critical. 

You can't pour from an empty cup.

Ultimately, if you find yourself living life on autopilot, there's usually a reason why.  

Your life might be out of balance.

Perhaps it is too stressful, too complicated, too boring, or maybe you have simply subconsciously surrendered your life to the "routine".

Set aside at least one hour this week and really think about your life and how you can shake things up to make things a little more interesting and purpose-filled.
